Artist Statement
I am a London based Artist working under the titles of Tajinder Dhami & Stanthers Ink. My work spans the forms of Animation, Micro-stages, Installation, Objects, and Drawings. My practice engages with exotic forms of transcendentalism and spirituality, exploring how these function and manifest through an artists practice.
I explore points of departure, sublte objects, essences, processes of meditation, ascension, seeking, and the spiritual path encapsulated within the world. Within this creative endeavour I also navigate the earthly polarities to spiritual being, visible within divisionalism, and historical hegemonies. Working predominately with references to Animation techniques and processes, I play with its qualities of time, space, and movement, to render markers on this path. In all my works I attempt to encode residues of gesture, and fruitful seeds of flowering.
This fascination with the spiritual, arrives from my Bhartain Heritage and a ancestor, who through meditation navigated beyond the psychological limits of the sensory world. His life, insight, methods, and teachings are a deep source of inspiration for me, In some way I attempt to embed/ locate them within the journey of my practice. To know oneself and beyond oneself is the greatest thing one will ever do. Oneness.
