Electric Dreams : Will Synthetic Intelligence Dream of Wet Sheep? (2014)
Context
I remember reading a copy of of Mind Children The Future of Robot and Human Intelligence (1988) by Hans Moravec around the end of last century. It felt like we were never gonna get there, that robots would remain limited to the realms of the large screen. But here we are 20+ years later, and most of the hardware and sensory issues have long been solved. A major issue of current exploration is how to present realistic forms of intelligence for interactions with Hue-mans. Namely, how to give artificial beings forms of emotion. |
